In the first two days of April, Macapá will be hosting the Brazilian Regional Judo Championship. The news was given by the mayor of the capital, Antônio Furlan, through his social networks. “The practice of sports is essential and that is why we encourage actions like these. We will continue investing, working and lovingly caring for Macapa sport”, wrote the mayor.
The expectation is to receive 350 athletes from several Brazilian states and about 100 athletes from Amapá will be participating in the competition, which will be held at the multi-sport gym of the Federal Institute of Amapá (IFAP).
The municipal coordinator of Sports and Leisure (Comel), Bruno Igreja, says that holding the event in the capital is a way of helping sports development. “The City Hall has been working to develop sport throughout our capital and now bringing national and regional events here. We achieved this through a political articulation, with the support of the Brazilian Taekwondo Confederation”.
The president of the Amapaense Judo Federation, Adriano Lins, believes that attitudes like this are what strengthen the modality in the state. “I thank Mayor Furlan for embracing judo so that we could be bringing this event here and making our modality grow more every day”he explained.
