After an extensive renovation process, Macapá City Hall is holding, this Saturday (17), the handover ceremony for the final stage of the works on the Glicério de Souza Marques Sports Complex. The stadium, opened on January 15, 1950, has been the site of major national and state competitions.

Based on an investment of R$12 million, as amended by Senator Davi Alcolumbre, and in return from Macapá City Hall, the “Giant of the Favela” underwent restructuring, becoming a multi-sports complex.

The work, now in its 4th stage, includes reinforced stands, clothing, administrative space and even a Sports Memorial room, which brings back local sports stories. For this, more than R$1.3 million reais was allocated from the Municipal Treasury.

The inaugural match of Glicerão will be between Macapá and Oratório, at 4pm. The match is valid for the 2nd phase of the Amapaense Football Championship.

The work, carried out in stages, included a budget from parliamentary amendments, plus resources from the Municipal Treasury, two of which were amendments from Senator Davi Alcolumbre, which together totaled just over R$12 million. The third amendment was forwarded by former federal deputy Evandro Milhomem, for R$1,950,000.00. The Municipal Treasury invested R$3,997,168.13 to complete the work.

Reconstruction phases

The first three stages of the work were officially inaugurated:

In the first stage, the general structuring of the space, electrical installations, fire fighting system, urbanization, drainage, landscaping, hydrosanitary system and the construction of three water reservoirs were carried out, in addition to electrical adjustments for the changing rooms, cafeterias, restrooms and guardhouses, painting and installation of sanitary ware in the changing rooms.
