Lula’s ministers preach conciliation between MST and agro – 05/14/2023 – Politics

Three ministers of the Lula government (PT) participated in the national fair of the MST (Movement of Landless Rural Workers) this Sunday morning (14th) and defended a reconciliation of the agendas of the social movement and agribusiness.

Attending the event, held in São Paulo, were ministers Paulo Pimenta (Secom), Luiz Marinho (Labour) and Márcio Macêdo (General Secretariat), Bahia governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) and PT congressmen.

The fair opened on Friday (12) without the presence of PT ministers, but since Saturday the presence of representatives of the party and the government has increased at the event held at Água Branca Park, in the west zone of the capital of São Paulo.

Paulo Pimenta spoke to the press before giving his speech and was asked about the government’s strategy for reconciling the agendas of the MST and agribusiness.

“President Lula’s government is a plural government, in all areas. Our challenge is to create a synthesis, which is the mediation between different visions. Lula is a conciliator, who seeks unity, and will not have any difficulty reach that balance point”, answered Pimenta.

After speaking at the event, Minister Marinho said that “there is room for agro and there is room for small production and movements that work with the land, such as the MST. There is no concern on our part with this agenda. its space, as it is having, Banco do Brasil, government actions, the BNDES itself working on these agendas. But we need to take good care of the agro and take good care of movements and small production”.

The general secretary of the Presidency, Márcio Macêdo, reinforced the government’s conciliatory position.

“I don’t see any contradiction between the agendas. It’s much more political dispute, it’s much more incentive to hatred that was done in the country. Each one has a role in the country’s economy”, he affirmed.
