Lula’s minister tries to disqualify CNN journalist – 03/25/2023 – Politics

Minister Paulo Pimenta, from Secom (Secretary of Communication of the Presidency), tried to disqualify the presenter of CNN Brasil Raquel Landim during a participation in one of the station’s programs.

Pimenta questioned Landim’s qualifications after being questioned by her about the speech of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who suggested, without evidence, that the plan of the criminal faction was a “setup” by Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) PCC against authorities.

“Are you a journalist?” asked the minister. The presenter countered and replied that yes, “graduated from the University of São Paulo”.

“I am a journalist, yes. My role is to ask questions; that of public authority should be to bring clarifications”, wrote Landim on a social network.

Raquel Landim had asked Pimenta whether it made sense to speak of a frame in the face of an operation that involved federal police, prosecutors and several other professionals who acted in the investigation of the case.

“I’m not going to talk because I think it’s another set up by Moro. I want to be cautious, I’m going to find out what happened. It’s clear that it’s a set up by Moro,” said Lula on Thursday (23), even after members of his own PT government praised the operation of the previous day carried out by the PF, which is linked to the Ministry of Justice.

On Wednesday (22), the president’s own team had published an image on the PT’s official Telegram channel with the words: “Lula’s PF saves Moro’s life. No grudges and barbs.”

After Lula’s statement, Moro reacted: “Do you have no decency?” Also on Thursday, in an interview with CNN Brasil, he also said that, “if anything happens to my family, the responsibility lies with this President of the Republic”.

On social networks, Internet users have been reflecting on Paulo Pimenta’s attempt to disqualify Raquel Landim as an act of machismo.

“Speaking of the Lulista patrol, did they already condemn Paulo Pimenta’s misogynistic speech yesterday?”, says a tweet. “Good machismo and good mansplaining can, right? That’s why I’ll never be able to take lulopetismo seriously”, says another.

Federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) said that Paulo Pimenta cannot justify Lula’s fake news with serious consequences in the same way that he cannot justify the PT’s corruption.
