On Monday (10), the Lula government will be one hundred days old. Operated a return to the future. It was necessary to rebuild Bolsa Família, Minha Casa Minha Vida, Mais Médicos, the Food Acquisition Program, dialogue with China, environmental policy, foreign relations… “It’s not much; it’s all old stuff”. I have no counterargument for what can’t even be wrong. As in the well-known joke, it is impossible to play chess with a pigeon.

On March 26, 2019, I wrote here a text about the third month of the Bolsonaro government. Twelve days earlier, Minister Dias Toffoli, then president of the STF, had officially opened inquiry 4,781, the so-called “fake news”, with reporting by Alexandre de Moraes. The digital militias had already made the court their main target. The two caught a barbarity from and in the press. I immediately defended the strict legality of that decision, the first of a series, within the limits of the Court’s competence, which contributed to preserve the rule of law. Exactly two months after that column, the first coup act took place, sponsored by Planalto. And the scoundrel never stopped. Until it resulted in January 8, 2023. The malaise continues among us and kills children. Bad storytellers like to accuse the Supreme Court of having stretched the rope, which would have led the then president to radicalization. Myth. The fascistoid escalation already began in the two inaugural speeches. He didn’t need reasons, just excuses.

I highlighted in that text the institutional performance of Fanfarrão Minésio. Article 7 points out the following practices as ‘crimes of responsibility against the exercise of political, individual and social rights’: “inciting military personnel to disobey the law or to violate discipline” and “provoking animosity between the armed classes or against them, or of them against the civil institutions’. The same article, in item 5, provides for the dismissal of an Ibama inspector, an act by Minister Ricardo Salles: it is a crime of responsibility ‘to use the authorities under your immediate subordination to abuse power, or to tolerate that these authorities practice without repression”.

And then there were the bunch of common crimes. His first act was a decree facilitating the carrying of weapons. Others came. It didn’t take long for criminal organizations to use the CAC license for arms trafficking. The hate virus has spread. In 21 years, there have been 22 attacks on schools in the country; 12 of them took place from 2019 to now. The pandemic came, and Brazil entered the map of states that practice necropolitics.

Lula won a coup d’état, put an end to the Yanomami genocide and presented a proposal for a fiscal framework that even Roberto Campos Neto is forced to praise, although he continues to ride the Pegasus of interest rates to the poetic delirium of the bad liberals of the last century. I’ve read many times, an understandable metaphor, that the framework is an attempt to please “Greeks and Trojans”. Let’s go from Homer: they weren’t different even in religion.
