The evaluation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the first 100 days of government had a drop in approval. The number of Brazilians who evaluate the PT administration as bad or terrible increased from 24% to 26%, from March to April, while the number of those who consider it good fell from 41% to 39%. The data are from the survey carried out by Ipec (formerly Ibope) released this Tuesday (11).

According to the survey, most Brazilians who consider the PT’s management to be terrible are men (20%), aged between 45 and 59 years old (21%) and with higher education (21%). And the data by region point to the greatest rejection in the south of the country, where 44% consider Lula’s management in the first 100 days of government as bad/terrible. The highest approval of the president continues to be in the northeast region, where 55% of respondents consider the administration good/excellent.

When evaluating by family income in minimum wages, the survey showed that the greatest approval is among those who earn up to one minimum wage, 33% consider the PT administration to be good. In the range of people who earn more than 5 minimum wages, this approval drops to 22%.

In terms of religion, approval of the president is more evident among Catholics than evangelicals. According to the survey, 31% of Catholics consider good management, against 17% of evangelicals.

Regarding what people expected from Lula’s government in these first 100 days, the survey revealed that for 48% the president did less than expected. Those who think the president did exactly what was expected are 31%. Already 13% think that Lula did more than expected and 7% did not respond.

The survey surveyed 2,000 people in 128 municipalities from April 1st to 5th, 2023. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
