The president of the Avante party, Luis Tibé, nominated Henrique Felipe Lucas for the presidency of Cateno, a payments company whose partners are Banco do Brasil (30% share) and Cielo (70%).

Planalto advisors say that the name was submitted to the Civil House for review. Tibé is an ally in Congress and even traveled with President Lula to China.

Cateno is considered a gold mine. Earned BRL 1 billion last year with the management of means of payment. It takes care, for example, of the BB card division.

Tibé intends to take advantage of the anti-Bolsonaro wave in the government to encourage the replacement of the current president of Cateno, Luis Felipe Monteiro, considered a pupil of the former Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.

However, his political godson faces resistance. Despite having experience in the payments area (he owns a company called CDC Card), he was punished by the CVM which, in 2018, removed him from the command of public companies for a year and a half due to irregularities in his management at Eletrosom. .

He returned to the market after the sanction, occupying an executive position at the Semear bank. In 2020, it was the subject of a Central Bank lawsuit for undue charging of customer registration fees for people who already had a relationship with the bank. Had to pay fine again.

In a recent statement, BB informed that nominations at Cateno are Cielo’s responsibility. The state bank has veto power.
