Itamaraty corrected the date of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) trip to China and, contrary to what the Presidency’s Communication Secretariat informed on Friday (31), that he would go on April 11, the departure will be done on April 12th.

The departure date was corrected by Itamaraty this Saturday (1st). The date of the trip was open to be agreed with the Chinese government after Lula postponed the visit — then scheduled for next week — so that the president could treat a case of bacterial bronchopneumonia last Friday (24).

The expectation is that Lula resumes part of the scheduled agenda, such as a meeting with the Chinese dictator, Xi Jinping, with Prime Minister Li Qiang, and with the president of the National People’s Assembly, Zhao Leji. The events are not yet confirmed, but the bilateral agendas involve issues related to trade, investments, reindustrialization, energy transition, climate change, cooperation agreements and peace.

There is also an expectation that Lula will go to Shanghai to visit the headquarters of the New Development Bank (NDB), known as Banco dos Brics, where former president Dilma Rousseff (PT) assumed the presidency in last Tuesday (28).
