Lula wants STF ministers’ votes to be confidential for security reasons

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) defended that the votes of the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) become confidential and not open and transmitted as currently occurs. The questioning of the transparency of the Judiciary took place during this Tuesday’s weekly live (5), in which the president even attacked former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), high-income people and the military.
The president said that the magistrates’ decisions must be complied with, but that the way in which each one voted should not be open to society.
“Society does not have to know how the Supreme Court minister votes. The guy has to vote and nobody needs to know. A majority voted, no one needs to know who voted. Because everyone who loses gets angry, everyone who wins is happy”, he said, noting that a way should be “created” to avoid “animosities” because of the decisions (see full excerpt).
Lula justified the defense for less transparency of the Judiciary due to hostilities that some of the ministers of the STF have been suffering in recent years. Its own nominee, Cristiano Zanin, has been the target of attacks from the left for conservative votes cast since he was sworn in in early August.
In addition to Zanin, Minister Alexandre de Moraes is also involved in alleged hostilities, such as the confusion that took place at the international airport in Rome, in July, and which had the images of the internal security circuit sent to Brazil and received this Monday (4th) for be attached to the investigation.
