President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) leaves for the United States this Thursday morning (9) for a meeting with President Joe Biden, on Friday (10), at the White House. With him, travel the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and of the Environment, Marina Silva.

Among the topics to be discussed at the meeting are climate change, economic development, food security and democracy, in the wake of the January 8 acts.

“The two presidents will discuss the United States’ unwavering support for Brazilian democracy and how the two countries can continue to work together to advance inclusiveness and democratic values ​​in the region and the world, especially in leadership – leading up to the March 2016 Democracy Summit. 2023,” reads a White House statement on the presidents’ agenda. According to the official agenda of the Planalto Palace, the Brazilian entourage will arrive in Washington at the end of this Thursday afternoon (9). The return to Brazil is scheduled for Saturday (11).
