Lula says that the departure of more women from the government is “speculation” after the change in Tourism

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) denied this Thursday (13) that he is taking women out of government. The representative stated that Daniela Carneiro “should not have left the party” in order not to be replaced in charge of the Ministry of Tourism. Carneiro fights in court to leave União Brasil and join the Republicans. This afternoon, the government confirmed that federal deputy Celso Sabino (União Brasil-PA) will assume the portfolio.
Lula said that Daniela’s exchange had already been planned. “She should not have left the party. When she leaves, it gets difficult. But I talked to Daniela and everything is fine”, said the president in an interview with TV Record. Other positions in the government would be coveted by Centrão, such as the Ministry of Sport, led by Ana Moser, the Ministry of Health, led by Nísia Trindade, and Caixa Econômica Federal, which is chaired by Rita Serrano.
Questioned about the maintenance of female representation in the government, Lula said that it is just speculation. “First, I’m not taking too many women. Second, if you take into account what you hear about speculation, in a little while I’m going to leave, in a little while they’re going to say that ‘Lula is replacing himself’”, said the president in a joking tone.
