Lula postpones trip to China on medical advice; no new date yet

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva decided to postpone the trip to China that he would make this Sunday (26) because of pneumonia diagnosed last Thursday (23). In an official statement, the Press Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic reported that the decision was based on medical advice.
“After reassessment today [sábado] and, despite the clinical improvement, the medical service of the Presidency of the Republic recommends postponing the trip to China until the cycle of viral transmission ends”, says a note signed by the doctor Ana Helena Germoglio.
There is still no new date for the trip, which had already been rescheduled after the discovery of the disease. “The postponement has already been communicated to the Chinese authorities with the reiteration of the desire to schedule the visit on a new date”, says the statement from the Presidency.

“President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was admitted to the Sirio-Libanês Hospital – Brasília unit, on 3/23/2023 with flu-like symptoms. After clinical evaluation, a diagnosis of bacterial and viral bronchopneumonia due to influenza A was made, and treatment was initiated.
