Lula must undergo surgery to treat arthrosis – 07/23/2023 – Politics

President Lula (PT) should undergo surgery to treat osteoarthritis in the femur in the second half of the year. According to the press office of the Presidency, it is a “scheduled surgery” that “should take place in October or December”.

This Sunday morning (23), the PT supporter was at the Sírio Libanês hospital, in São Paulo, where “he only underwent a small injection due to discomfort in his hip”, according to the press office. He was under the care of his physician, general practitioner and cardiologist Roberto Kalil Filho.

Lula did not undergo any examination and continued with the scheduled schedule. This afternoon, the Chief Executive participates in the inauguration ceremony of the new board of directors of the ABC Metalworkers’ Union, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP). He is expected to return to Brasilia at the end of the day.

“Today I will be in charge of the new board of directors of the ABC Metallurgists Union, a place that is my origin in politics, and a big part of my life. Good Sunday to all”, wrote the petista on social networks.

The surgery had already been recommended by the medical team that takes care of the president.

A Sheet showed in June that Lula should undergo the procedure. In a meeting with senators, he indicated at that moment the possibility of the surgery taking place on his return from an official trip to France.

According to reports, he complained that he had been suffering from severe pain in the leg and hip region.

On a trip to Bahia, in May, the representative had already dealt with the matter. He stated that he takes daily injections, but that they no longer resolve. And he joked with Senator Otto Alencar (PSD-BA), who is a doctor, that he would need to cure him for him to return to playing football.

“Later, I’m going to make an appointment with Otto. I have a problem with the head of the femur, and you’re an orthopedist, you know that, and you know that you’re going to have to cure me, because I’m good with the ball and I can’t play anymore”, he said at the time.
