President Lula (PT) should undergo surgery to treat arthrosis in the femur at the end of this month, after returning from an official trip to France.

The president commented on this possibility during a meeting with allied senators at the Planalto Palace.

Lula met with senators on Monday night (5) to thank them for their commitment to approving the provisional measure that restructured the Esplanada dos Ministérios. The representative took the initiative to comment that he would undergo the surgical procedure upon returning from Paris, where he is participating in a summit on the global pact, promoted by President Emmanuel Macron.

The president complained that he has been suffering from severe pain in the leg and hip region.

This was not the first complaint of pain. On a trip to Bahia, last month, the representative stated that he takes daily injections, but that they no longer solve the problem. And he joked with Senator Otto Alencar (PSD-BA), who is a doctor, that he would need to cure him for him to return to playing football.

“Later, I’m going to make an appointment with Otto. I have a problem with the head of the femur, and you’re an orthopedist, you know that, and you know that you’re going to have to cure me, because I’m good with the ball and I can’t play anymore “, he stated at the time.

The surgery had already been recommended by the medical team that takes care of President Lula. It had also been indicated that he would reduce the pace of travel and public events.

Lula, however, has been maintaining his agenda and even intensifying his commitments abroad. Last month, he made a long trip to Japan, as one of the guests at the G7 meeting, a forum that brings together some of the world’s leading economies.

The president had already made a 24-hour trip for an official visit to China.

In addition to France, the president should also travel in the coming months to South Africa, for the summit of the Brics (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).
