Lula must find quote for GSI when returning from trip – 04/24/2023 – Politics

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) should receive General Marco Antônio Amaro dos Santos for a second conversation, this week, about the future of the GSI (Institutional Security Office).

Last Thursday (24th), before leaving for Europe, the PT member received him at the Planalto Palace for a conversation of about ten minutes. The Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, and the chief of staff, Marco Aurélio Santana Ribeiro, Marcola, were at the meeting.

There was no appointment commitment, nor did they discuss the design of the GSI, which involves a dispute between civilians and the military. As the Panel showed, Lula will define this when he returns from his trip, next Wednesday (26).

The meeting with Amaro took place on the same day that General Gonçalves Dias, Lula’s trusted man and better known as G.Dias, resigned from the GSI, after the release of images, hitherto unknown by the president, of the coup invasion in 8 of January.

The videos show an attitude considered negligent, by members of the government, on the part of servants of the ministry that takes care of the security of the Presidency.

According to palace assistants, the PT gave a brief account of recent events during the meeting with Amaro. Lula said that G.Dias had worked with him for a long time, that he is a very good person, but that he had a short period at the head of the portfolio, until last year led by Augusto Heleno.

He also complained that he had not seen the images initially released by CNN and later withdrawn from secrecy by the Minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), Alexandre de Moraes. This was the trigger for the general’s dismissal.

At the time, Lula asked for access to the images in front of his office, but the general said that the camera had been broken – which was not the case. According to members of the GSI, the general was misinformed by someone on his team.
