President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will decide the fate of the GSI (Institutional Security Office) after his trip to Europe, according to allies.
The agent leaves on Wednesday night (20) for Portugal and then to Spain, where he will stay until next Wednesday (26).
According to interlocutors involved in the matter, the reading is that the moment will be for Lula to reflect on the two theses involving the future of the structure of the ministry, whose holder General Gonçalves Dias was dismissed on Wednesday (19).
One of the theses deals with the creation of a new secretariat, with a civilian at the head. Another wants to keep the portfolio with the military, as it has historically been.
The new name that began to circulate within this second hypothesis is that of General Marco Antônio Amaro dos Santos.
The military was already GSI, which at the time was called Casa Militar, by Dilma Rousseff (PT) and occupied the General Staff of the Army, the second highest position in the force.
He competes with Valerio Stumpf Trindade, who was also on the General Staff and had passages through the GSI from Fernando Henrique Cardoso to Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
