Lula meets with presidents of Petrobras and Shell to discuss energy transition

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will receive, this Monday afternoon (13), the world CEO of Shell, Wael Sawan, and the president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, to discuss the participation of the state-owned company in transition actions energy and new opportunities in the oil and gas sector. The agenda for the meeting was advanced by the advisory of the Brazilian oil company.
In the morning, Prates and Sawan met at one of the headquarters of Petrobras, in Brasília, where they discussed the participation of the state-owned company in actions with the multinational fuel company. According to Prates, the meeting is part of a new strategy to “deal directly with the global CEOs of large companies in the segment to advance in the energy transition”.
“We are bringing Petrobras closer to other major companies in the sector to build new opportunities for cooperation both in the oil and gas segment and for the energy transition”, he said.
Wael Sawan pointed out that he has maintained “a close relationship in operations and development actions in the oil sector and in the energy transition” with Brazil for 110 years, and that he intends to deepen this “partnership”.
Prates also stated that the meeting with Lula is necessary due to the environmental policy and energy transition that he is developing in this government. The meeting is scheduled for 4 pm at the Planalto Palace.
Afterwards, Lula also meets with the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, to discuss the meeting and with the president of the state-owned company.
