Lula launches plan to decarbonize the Amazon during his visit to Parintins in August

Mayor Bi Garcia confirmed Lula’s visit and the agenda of the presidential entourage
Manaus (AM) – President Lula (PT) confirmed the visit, on August 5, to the municipality of Parintins (369 kilometers from Manaus), to launch the Amazon Decarbonization Program and the new Light for All. The trip was confirmed by the president during a virtual meeting, this Tuesday morning (25), with the mayor of Parintins, Bi Garcia, senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM) and federal deputy Saullo Vianna (União Brasil-AM).
Lula will visit the municipality in the interior of Amazonas, accompanied by the first lady Janja, ministers, governor Wilson Lima, senators, federal and state deputies, and political leaders from Brazil and the North region.
According to the mayor of Parintins, Bi Garcia, the delegation of the Presidency of the Republic will launch the Amazon decarbonization program. The idea of the plan is to reduce the use of diesel oil in energy production in the region. With the measures, the government plans to replace the fossil fuel energy matrix with renewable sources, reducing the emission of gases that cause the greenhouse effect in the region.
In the municipality, Lula will also launch the new Luz Para Todos program, in addition to the inauguration of the electricity network known as Linhão de Tucuruí, which connects Parintins to the National Interconnected System (SIN); and Infovia 01, which brings broadband internet to the city via fiber optic cable.
The arrival of the President of the Republic is eagerly awaited in Parintins. The delegation is expected to stay in the municipality during the morning and afternoon to fulfill the agenda.
