President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will be honored at a dinner, this Friday night (23), offered by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, appointed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights as responsible for the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.
The ceremony will be held in Paris and takes place in the midst of Lula’s trip to Europe, in which he will participate in bilateral meetings with heads of state and government of several countries, in addition to the attempt to unlock negotiations for the trade agreement between Mercosur and European Union.
The dinner hosted by bin Salman is viewed with suspicion by the international community, as the Saudi leader is said to have played an “essential role in a campaign to repress dissidents” against the Saudi government.
Bin Salman would also have given as a gift to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former first lady, Michelle, a set of jewelry and a watch valued at R$ 5.1 million.
