Lula government promises task force with nominations to reverse dissatisfaction in Congress – 06/16/2023 – Politics

The Lula government (PT) will set up a task force to accelerate the appointments that are blocked in ministries and will monitor, weekly, the parliamentarians who are received in the portfolios in an attempt to reverse dissatisfaction of the National Congress with the political articulation of the Executive.

Minister Alexandre Padilha (Secretary of Institutional Relations) said this Friday (16) that the measures were taken during the ministerial meeting on Thursday (15) and that they were a request from President Lula.

According to him, a “permanent task force” will be set up, coordinated by the portfolio he heads, to speed up the technical analysis of the names with the ministries. He stated that there are about 403 nominations that are stalled.

“About 403 CVs submitted by parliamentarians, social segments that are under analysis in the ministries, some for 30 days, others for 60 days, others in shorter periods. We have already been demanding and monitoring this almost daily. And [tomamos] a decision from yesterday’s meeting [de] constitute a permanent task force so that this composition is accelerated as quickly as possible by the ministries”, he said.

Padilha pointed out that starting next week there will also be a weekly survey of the parliamentarians who were assisted in each ministry. The idea, according to him, is for this to be passed on to government leaders in the House, Senate and Congress, so that they can deliver it to party leaders.

“This is a government that is open to dialogue with Congress, with political actors, mayors and governors. This is President Lula’s daily effort. We turned off a machine that existed in the Planalto Palace for creating conflicts with the National Congress , judiciary, governors and mayors”, he continued.

The minister also stated that a possible change in the leadership of the Tourism portfolio is natural, since União Brasil made a request for the reformulation of its representatives on the Esplanada. He also indicated that he will meet in the next few days with leaders of the party to hear from them “what proposal they present to us in relation to this”.

He also said that this ministerial reformulation debate is not up to portfolios such as Health, headed by Nísia Trindade, as it is a technical indication. The ministry has been coveted by the PP, by the mayor, Arthur Lira (AL).

“The party composition is not under discussion in relation to the Ministry of Health. There are other ministries that were discussed with the party composition, which is part of democracy, it is done in democracy. The Ministry of Tourism is an example of that.”
