Lula does not question PF, but coincidences, says minister – 03/23/2023 – Politics

The Minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency, Paulo Pimenta, said this Thursday (23) that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) did not contest the work of the Federal Police when he concluded that the PCC plan described by the PF to attack Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) could be “a frame” by the former judge.

According to Pimenta, Lula questioned a “set of coincidences” in the operation, but did not call into question the performance of the corporation or the Ministry of Justice.

Earlier, the president said: “I’m not going to talk because I think it’s another set up by Moro. I want to be cautious, I’ll find out what happened. It’s visible that it’s a set up by Moro”.

The Secom minister sought to downplay Lula’s speech.

“In my opinion, the president’s speech never questions the investigation, not least because it was conducted by the PF and the Ministry of Justice. But I think that the object of the questioning was the set of coincidences, facts that end up bringing back an entire memory about the method that was used against him, many times, same characters”, he said.

“Much more than as a president, as a human being, his feeling of doubt and indignation is natural,” he added.

Lula’s statement took place earlier, in Rio de Janeiro, even after members of the PT government itself had praised the operation the previous day carried out by the PF, which is linked to the Ministry of Justice.

The inference made by Lula intensified the dispute with opponents and led Moro to react by demanding “decency” from the president. Judge Gabriela Hardt, responsible for signing the arrest warrants, withdrew the secrecy of the process shortly after the president’s speech, leading to the disclosure of more details of the police investigation.

The threat against the senator had been described by the Minister of Justice himself, Flávio Dino (PSB), when disclosing the PF operation against the criminal faction this Wednesday (22).

“But that’s going to wait. I’m not going to attack anyone without having proof. I think it’s another set-up. And if it’s another set-up, he’s going to be exposed even more. I don’t know what he’s going to do with his life if he keeps lying like this that he is lying”, stated Lula, on a visit to the Naval Complex of Itaguaí (RJ), where the Navy’s nuclear submarine program is developed.

The president exposed suspicion about the performance of Judge Gabriela Hardt, who was Moro’s substitute in conducting Lava Jato in the Federal Court of Curitiba. “I’m going to research the reason for the sentence. I learned that the judge wasn’t even active when she gave her opinion to him.”
