Lula defends Dino after ‘drug lady’ goes to the Ministry and denies backing down in the face of criminals

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) came out in defense of the Minister of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), Flávio Dino (PSB), this Wednesday morning (15). In a post on social media, the head of Planalto said he was supportive of the head of the ministry in the case of the visit of the wife of a Comando Vermelho leader to Dino’s team.

Flávio Dino has been accused on social media of having received Luciene Barbosa, called the “drug lady”. Lula, in the post, considers that the attacks have been “artificially planted” and “criminal”, in addition to considering that the action is coordinated. “We reiterate: there will be no retreat in the face of criminals and their allies, wherever they are, whoever they are”, highlighted Lula.

Lula reinforced that the minister has already commented on the case, and that Dino did not meet Luciene Barbosa. “He has already said and reiterated that he has never met the wife of a criminal faction leader. There isn’t a single photo, but they’ve been insisting on the absurd lie for several days.”reinforced Lula in defending the minister.

Furthermore, the president highlighted that care is needed, as fake news could be created on the subject, and that this would attract opponents. “These actions awaken many opponents, who are not satisfied with the loss of money and space for their criminal activities. This is where fake news is born, disseminated in a clear coordinated action.”warned President Lula in the publication.

Wife of one of the main leaders of Comando Vermelho (CV) in Amazonas, Luciene Barbosa was present at meetings of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) and the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC). She was also received by parliamentarians in the National Congress.

Dino had already spoken out about the case on social media, stating that he had not received, from the ministry, “leader of a criminal faction, or wife, or relative, or neighbor”. Still on Tuesday (14), he highlighted that he would appeal to the courts. “Yes, I will prosecute the authors of the lies. (…) In addition to being criminals, they are ridiculous”Dino stressed.

The controversy was so great that new rules for entering the MJSP were published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) on Tuesday night (14), and one of them includes the need to identify visitors to public appointments, who must provide their name and CPF up to 48 hours in advance.

The MHDC confirmed to the newspaper O Globo the payment for one of Luciene Barbosa’s trips.

The controversial visit mentioned by Lula

Luciene Barbosa is also known as the “Amazonian Trafficking Lady”. She has already been convicted of money laundering, association for drug trafficking and criminal organization, and remains free. Barbosa was received by at least four members of the Ministry of Justice, two directors and two secretaries of the department, according to a report in the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo.
