In a closed meeting with trade union centrals this Thursday (27th), in Brasília, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) classified as absurd the fact that workers pay income tax on PLR (profit sharing), but companies are not charged to your earnings and dividends
Trade unionists have claimed exemption from IR for PLR. The petista then asked Fernando Haddad, Minister of Finance, to give special attention to the proposal.
Among the trade unionists, the election has been led by Antonio Neto, president of the CSB and of the municipal directory of the PDT in São Paulo.
“There are companies with profits and very positive results that, in addition to not paying taxes, often refuse to pay the PLR to the workers. Or when it does, it pays only to managers and managers. companies, no”, says Neto.
During the electoral dispute, the also pedetista Ciro Gomes had as one of his main proposals the implementation of the taxation of profits and dividends of companies, which was interrupted in Brazil in 1996, during the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso (PSDB).
After the meeting with Lula and the trade unionists, Luiz Marinho, Minister of Labor, expressed support for the proposed exemption from IR for PLR.
“If there is no charge on company profits, why is there a tax on participation? Back when Guido [Mantega] was minister [da Fazenda], they adjusted an exemption value and finally after it stopped. Gotta adjust that,” she said.
