Lula charges a flight to Africa, but Latam already sells tickets – 08/27/2023 – Panel SA

President Lula used part of his speech in Angola and a post on Twitter to charge airlines this Saturday: “I want to discuss how a country the size of Brazil does not have direct flights to the African continent.”
The president stated that he intends to meet with Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) to change this situation.
However, Latam has been selling tickets for at least six months between São Paulo and Johannesburg, in South Africa, which will open on September 2.
A one-way flight on September 4th and return on October 1st cost R$5,944 this Sunday (27th). For January 2024, rates are around BRL 4,900.
The new route will also have connections in Johannesburg to 47 other African destinations through the agreements that Latam has with other airlines in that country.
