President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) arrives in London at the end of this Friday morning (5th) to participate in the coronation of King Charles III, scheduled for Saturday (6th). During the afternoon, the President will have a private meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, at the official government residence.

Lula and Sunak are expected to discuss issues such as bilateral trade between the two countries, taxation, climate change and the war in Ukraine. There is no forecast for the signing of agreements, but the reception of the Brazilian president in Downing Street is a sign of the interest of the British in doing business with Brazilian companies.

Bilateral trade between Brazil and the United Kingdom totaled US$ 6.45 billion last year, according to Apex-Brasil, with growth expected after an increase of 19.3% between 2021 and 2022. is due to the recession experienced by the European country, which should have a contraction of 0.2% in the economy this year.

Shortly afterwards, Lula will head to Buckingham Palace, where he will be hosted for a dinner with the presence of authorities invited to the coronation of Charles III.

The coronation ceremony of Charles III is scheduled for Saturday (6), starting at 11 am (local time), and will last all day. Lula returns to Brazil in the early evening.
