The appointment of the lawyer was made this Tuesday (29)
Brasilia DF) – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) nominated this Tuesday (29) lawyer Daniela Teixeira to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The information was anticipated by the newspaper “O Globo”.
There are currently three vacancies open for the STJ. This vacancy belonged to advocacy, that is, to nominees of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).
Last week, the STJ held a triple list vote for the OAB vacancy and another vote with four names for the two vacancies for judges. Daniela was chosen in the OAB vacancy.
Behind the scenes, the assessment made is that by choosing a woman for the vacancy, Lula takes the pressure off the vacancy that will open in the Federal Supreme Court (STF) after the compulsory retirement of Minister Rosa Weber, in October.
The president has been pressured to appoint a woman to replace Rosa Weber, since, with her departure from the Court, the STF will have only one woman in its composition – Minister Cármen Lúcia.
According to sources, Lula even spoke with Minister Cristiano Zanin –the newest member of the Court– regarding this nomination.
