According to him, the state has been waiting ten years for a license for the petrochemical industry.
The senator defended immediate authorization for prospecting for oil and exploration for oil and gas, as Amapá is in a hurry to install a large gas thermoelectric plant in Oiapoque and a liquefied petroleum gas processor for the production of nitrogenous products for agriculture.
— Greenpeace and other institutes and preservation organizations created fake news about the false presence of corals in the Amazon delta. The Amazon delta, with its turbid and clay-rich waters, does not allow the growth and survival of any type of coral. There are 35-year studies carried out by scientists at the Federal University of Pará that have already clarified all these questions – he declared.
Lucas Barreto also defended the exploitation of more than 208 million tons of phosphate rock in the Maicuru complex, which is less than 300 kilometers from the border between Amapá and Pará, in the city of Laranjal do Jari.
The senator highlighted that Amapá is the state with the largest proportional area of preservation of its primary coverage. For him, the interference of the federal government, creating national parks, including the Tumucumaque National Park, further expanded “Amazon paradox”.
