House president cancels House committee meetings to prioritize Carf bill, fiscal framework and tax reform

Brasilia DF) – The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), will gather leaders of the House this Sunday night (2) at the official residence of the House, in Lago Sul, an upscale neighborhood of Brasília.

The objective is to align this week’s voting agenda with congressmen and ask for an individual effort from everyone to analyze the proposals – mainly the three of interest to Lira and the government, the PL do Carf, the fiscal framework and the tax reform.

The Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies, led by Lira, canceled meetings of all permanent committees in the House this week.

The reason: Lira intends to give full focus to the House plenary agenda in the coming days.

This Monday (3), the President of the Chamber will put to the vote the bill that changes the rules of the Administrative Council of Tax Appeals (Carf).

Next, Lira intends to vote on the new fiscal framework and the tax reform. These last two subjects tend to be left for Tuesday (4) and Wednesday (5).

The decision of the Board of Directors was formalized in an official act that will be published in the Official Gazette of the Chamber.

There were a series of hearings scheduled this week, such as the presence of ministers Camilo Santana (Education) and Marina Silva (Environment).

The meetings will be rescheduled for next week — or even for August, given the proximity to the parliamentary recess period.

Without the meetings of the permanent commissions, the deputies will dedicate themselves exclusively in the plenary to the votes on the economic agenda.

The session already scheduled for this second (3), including, will have the possibility of remote voting – which contributes to a larger quorum on the part of the deputies, who manage to vote even without being in Brasília.
