Retired minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) Ricardo Lewandowski will be honored in a solemn session of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) on the 29th of this month. The initiative is authored by state deputies Emidio de Souza (PT) and Simão Pedro (PT).
“One of the most serious ministers to have passed through the Supreme Court, Ricardo Lewandowski deserves all our respect and recognition for his work in defense of the democratic rule of law”, says Souza.
Jurists, magistrates, lawyers and professors were invited to participate in the ceremony, which will be held at the Juscelino Kubitschek House Plenary.
Lewandowski retired this year after serving 17 years on the country’s highest court. At the STF, he established himself as a guarantor minister, concerned with the broad right of defense of defendants.
The magistrate held the main positions in Brasilia: the presidency of the STF, the presidency of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), the presidency of the Senate, in the trial of the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff (PT), and the Presidency of the Republic itself, on an interim basis .
