Leite thinks PSDB is his backyard, says removed leader – 10/20/2023 – Panel

Removed by the national leadership of the PSDB from the presidency of the party in the city of São Paulo, Fernando Alfredo says that the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, “does not have the leadership capacity to unite the party”.

“Eduardo Leite doesn’t talk to people. He prefers to think that the party is his backyard. He has shown himself to be an ineffective and incapable political leader for the PSDB at this moment”, says Alfredo.

Leite has presided over the party nationally since February, and in this capacity removed Alfredo from the leadership of the capital of São Paulo last month.

This Friday (20), the party’s National Executive also determined the change in the Tucana state leadership, with the argument that it has shown solidarity with Alfredo.

According to Alfredo, since assuming the national presidency, Leite has shown no interest in talking to the toucans of São Paulo;

“He held four national meetings, none in São Paulo. He was invited numerous times to come to the state to meet with the party, but he never accepted”, he says.

For Alfredo, the gaucho still resents the fact that he lost the presidential elections to the then governor of São Paulo João Doria at the end of 2021.

“He was unable to overcome the defeat in the primaries for Doria and wants to take revenge on those who want to rebuild the party. And then he commits monocratic, anti-statutory acts. He disrespects the history of the directorates in the state of São Paulo and the capital, which have always had a tradition in party,” he declared.

Alfredo was removed with the argument that he was persecuting and expelling internal opponents, which he denies. For him, Leite makes slanderous accusations, with the aim of placing an ally in the presidency of the capital.

He also states that the issue will be discussed in court. “We remain firm and working, supported by the statute”, he declares.
