Kondzilla: Artificial intelligence must be regulated – 02/05/2023 – Tech

With its rapid evolution, AI (artificial intelligence) is already capable of creating scripts, painting pictures and creating music. In recent weeks, an artificially created song with the voices of artists Drake and The Weeknd went viral on the networks, lighting the alert in the industry.

Konrad Dantas, better known as Kondzilla, founder of the biggest funk producer in Brazil, believes that, while AI can contribute to the phonographic market, it needs to be regulated.

“When we talk about music, we also talk about composition, work and the fixation of the voice interpreting a letter. Even this fixation being virtual, it honors someone”, said the producer in an interview with journalists at the Web Summit Rio, the first edition of the event in Latin America.

“If you remembered the voice or a characteristic of a song, to explore economically, you must give credit”, he says.

As an example, he tapped the table twice with a closed fist and one more with an open palm. At the same moment, everyone recognized the song “We will rock you”, by the British band Queen.

At the event, the businessman also told how the Kondzilla channel became one of the biggest YouTube channels in Brazil using technology. The highlight was the use of cell phones to not only play music, but also create it.

“We started to produce the content with the same tool in which it is consumed”, he said.

According to the producer, in December 2017, the main source of traffic for his songs was suggested videos on YouTube. After almost six years, Spotify, the audio streaming platform, changed this scenario.

With it came another challenge: the popularization of podcasts in Brazil. If the average of a program is 120 minutes, for example, divided by the average time of a song, 3 minutes, 40 tracks are not heard.

To deal with this scenario, Kondzilla says he works on different fronts, in what he calls “steps of the content consumption journey”: short videos, music, official music videos, TV, advertising and, if possible, movies and documentaries.
