Kerolin admits nervousness with his debut in the Cup: ‘Brazil is coming strong’

A Debut of the Brazilian team in the Women’s World Cup is getting closer. Pia Sundhage’s team takes the field this Monday, at 8 am, against Panama, at Hindmarsh Stadium.

One of the players of the new generation, midfielder Kerolin, just 23 years old, admitted her nervousness with the approach of the confrontation.

“Many girls are debuting in the World Cup, the nervousness will hit hard. We have to understand that sometimes some things may not go as we train, it happens, that’s normal. We are creating our identity more and more, and it’s ok to be nervous”, she said.

Despite the anxiety, Kerolin praised the preparation of the Brazilian team and showed confidence in the search for the dreamed title of the unprecedented World Cup.

“Brazil is coming very strong and very structured. I don’t think there is much weather or the temperature is not something that will make us play less or more. I think we are very well prepared physically to be able to arrive and present a happy, daring football with a lot of determination.”

North Carolina Courage took the opportunity to talk about the growth of women’s football. More than 42,000 fans were present at the opening of the tournament, the largest attendance for a football match held in New Zealand. In Australia’s debut against Ireland, 75,784 people were at Suncorp Stadium, in Australia.

“It is a very important moment for people with a lot of representation. I think that women’s football, little by little is gaining its space. And, once again, I say that this Cup is another opportunity for us to be where we deserve. Very good what is happening, but we want more, we do not want to stop here”, he said.

Kerolin was present at the last training session of the Brazilian team in Brisbane, before leaving for Adelaide. In training this Saturday, coach Pia Sundhage made the last adjustments for her debut. After warming up, the coach worked on defensive and offensive concepts with the team and ended with a collective, already designing the official lineup for the duel against Panama.

After the duel against the Panamanians, Brazil will face France on July 29, at 7 am (Brasília time), at the Brisbane Stadium. Participation in the group stage will conclude with the match against Jamaica on August 2, also at 7am, at Melbourne’s Rectangular Stadium.
