Justice summons witnesses in Daniel Alves case
[ad_1]
A series of witnesses have been called to testify on the sexual assault charge that holds Daniel Alves provisionally arrested two weeks ago in Barcelona.
The series of testimonials will take place this Friday (3), starting at 10:00 am local time (6:00 am Brasília time).
The witnesses will appear in the City of Justice, the same forum where Daniel Alves went to give testimony on the last 20th and ended up arrested.
The group of witnesses is considered fundamental in the investigation. According to UOL, the waiters, doorman and manager of the Sutton nightclub are listed, where the crime would have happened on December 30, 2022.
In addition to the nightclub employees, the complainant’s friend and cousin – who accompanied her that night – are also expected to give testimony tomorrow.
Some of the witnesses have already given testimony to the Police, but now the testimonies will be for Justice.
The testimonies are important because Daniel Alves’ defense argues that there is “inconsistency” in the complainant’s version. Justice’s idea is to have versions of what happened at the club before, during and after the alleged sexual assault.
The manager of the nightclub was responsible for calling the police as soon as he found out about the incident and was therefore summoned by the Spanish court to give a statement. Among the waiters, there is one who worked in the VIP area at Sutton and informed the alleged victim of Daniel Alves’ “interest”. The doorman was also listed as a witness, who said that the victim was “anxious” and showing signs that something had gone wrong.
The complainant’s friend stated that Daniel Alves groped, in addition to the victim himself, her and another person who was in the same group. This is a report of another crime, which may further complicate the player’s situation.
Daniel Alves’ defense filed the appeal this week, asking for the player to be investigated in freedom. The defense tries to prove that the chance of the player leaving Catalonia and returning to Brazil is zero. Among the precautionary actions with which he undertakes is compliance with a restraining order that prohibits him from having any type of contact with the complainant, as well as maintaining a distance of more than 500 meters, in addition to an electronic bracelet, bail and delivery of passports.
The request has not yet been considered and there is no date for the trial.. If convicted of sexual assault with rape or rape, Daniel Alves faces up to 12 years in prison. The penalty increases if there are other crimes.
