Justice grants injunction to Vasco to play with Palmeiras in Maracanã

The Justice of Rio de Janeiro granted an injunction in favor of Vasco to send his game against Palmeiras, for the second round of the Brazilian Championship, in Maracanã.

Vasco had filed a lawsuit yesterday against Flamengo requesting the field command for Maracanã.

The granting of the injunction by the Justice took place this afternoon (14):

“I partially grant the preliminary injunction to determine that the defendant make the Maracanã stadium available for the match between Vasco and Palmeiras, on 04/23/2023, under the commercial conditions applied to other clubs not signatories to the TPU “, says the decision.

Cruzmaltino had already made a formal request to the consortium 30 days ago, but was left without a forceful response from the management, formed by the Fla-Flu duo through a Term of Permission to Use (TPU).

Flamengo and Fluminense had joined earlier as interested parties in the process, claiming issues related to the Maracanã lawn.

The Justice, however, refuted the arguments, although it pondered:

“The issue regarding the preservation of the lawn, although relevant, must be weighed against the interest of the community in using the Maracanã. in this city, with an audience capacity of 78,838 people and easier access compared to other stadiums”

Flamengo and Fluminense should appeal the decision.

Vasco had already obtained an injunction last year to send their game against Sport in Maracanã, for Série B.
