The request of the Attorney General’s Office to extend to R$18.5 million the blockade of assets of people and companies that allegedly financed criminal acts on January 8, in Brasília, was accepted. The judge who accepted it was Francisco Alexandre Ribeiro, from the 8th Federal Court of Brasília.
“With regard to the increase in the pecuniary limit of the precautionary measure granted, in view of the new surveys carried out by the Chamber of Deputies (reducing the initial estimate), by the Presidency of the Republic and by the Federal Supreme Court, the latter two hitherto unpublished, given the understandable indetermination of the damage suffered, still under investigation, it is necessary to grant it”, said the magistrate.
The initial amount requested by the AGU to the 8th Federal Court of Brasília last week was R$ 6.539 million. The request was accepted. Last Thursday (19), the AGU asked for an increase in this amount.
CNN found that the expansion is due to new information sent to the AGU by the Presidency of the Republic and the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The first reported that the damage caused by the destruction of the Planalto Palace was R$ 7.978 million. The second accounted for a loss to the seat of the Supreme Court of R$ 5.923 million.
The amount must be used to repair damage caused by the depredation of public property in case of subsequent conviction. In addition, the AGU may request an increase in the amount to be blocked as the accounting for losses, which has not yet been completed, advances.
