Júnior Favacho proposes entrepreneurship and financial education in public schools in Amapá – News of Brazil

The disciplines of Entrepreneurship and Financial Education may soon be part of the curriculum for elementary and high school students in the state public network. The suggestion, presented by state deputy Júnior Favacho (MDB) to the State Department of Education (SEED) through a request, aims to prepare young people for the job market and the management of their personal finances.

“We understand that entrepreneurship goes beyond financial gain. Introducing this subject in schools will give students vital skills such as creativity, problem solving and opportunity discernment. We want young people to leave the classroom prepared to undertake or enter an increasingly competitive market”, explained Junior Favacho.

With regard to financial education, the parliamentarian considers this discipline essential to establish solid foundations for a healthy financial life. “Our young people need to understand the importance of financial planning, how to manage their personal finances and make informed decisions about money. These skills not only prevent financial pitfalls, but also cultivate a conscious and responsible generation”, declared the parliamentarian.

Júnior Favacho also pointed out that other Brazilian states have already recognized the importance of these topics and have incorporated these disciplines into their curricula. He mentioned São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Tocantins as some of the states that have already adopted these changes or are in the process of adopting them. He believes that the results of these initiatives will become visible soon.

Cultivating Entrepreneurship

Another advantage pointed out by the parliamentarian is the promotion of a more attractive and motivating school environment, encouraging young people to remain interested in classes. “Incorporating these disciplines into the curricula is a significant policy to combat school dropout, as it brings to the classroom topics that interest young people and are directly related to their daily lives.”

Júnior Favacho also recalled that today’s students belong to the digital native generation, used to having access to knowledge from an early age. Therefore, it is crucial to look for ways to make the school a space that promotes entrepreneurial education and helps form autonomous and critical citizens.

“Our schools need to embrace an entrepreneurial culture, becoming environments that encourage characteristics such as initiative, self-confidence, collaboration, creativity, resilience and planning. Familiar with these concepts, our young people will face the job market and the challenges of adult life more easily”, emphasized the deputy.

Application 2212/23-AP was filed at the Legislative Assembly of Amapá on August 1st and will soon be voted by the House. If approved, it will be forwarded to SEED to assess the possibility of incorporating these new disciplines into the curriculum.
