Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who will have the judgment that could make him ineligible resumed this Tuesday (27) by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), says that the magistrates judge “according to the face of the customer”, and that the 2017 jurisprudence, which acquitted the Dilma-Temer ticket, “is no longer valid”.

The statements were given in an interview published by the newspaper Folha de São Paulo, in which the former president also said that he will not “despair” if the TSE condemns him to ineligibility, which he says is a “trend” of what will happen. . “What does everybody say? […] that it is possible, it is”, he said.

“Michel Temer, when he was President of the Republic, in 2017, was tried at the TSE and was kept in office, with a casting vote by Minister Gilmar Mendes. Who said, at the time, that the Electoral Justice does not exist to revoke anyone’s mandate. Much less presidents,” said Bolsonaro.

For the former president, the acts of vandalism carried out on January 8 and the attempt to blow up a tank truck near Brasília International Airport, at the end of last year, were not carried out by people who sympathized with him.

“Silver bullet” for 2026

If he is condemned to ineligibility by the TSE, the former president says he has what would be a “silver bullet” for the 2026 elections – but still without revealing what the strategy would be.

“I have the silver bullet, but I won’t reveal it. What we planted over four years was not blah blah blah. I went into the middle of the crowd, breath in my face, risking being shot, stabbed. We brought people to believe in their country,” said Bolsonaro.

Among the options for succession is the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), who opinion polls indicate is the most viable option at this time. “He is an excellent manager, I would have to talk to him”, said the former president.

And also the former first lady, Michelle Bolsonaro, who he says is an “excellent electoral supporter”. However, she would lack experience in political life to run for office.
