Judge censors video with son of minister Benedito, from the STJ – 01/15/2024 – Power

The Rio de Janeiro Court ordered on Saturday (13) the deletion of a video that went viral on social media showing Felipe Brandão, son of minister Benedito Gonçalves, of the STJ (Superior Court of Justice), showing off designer clothes and luxury accessories .

The decision was made by judge Flávia Babu Capanema Tancredo, from the 6th Special Civil Court in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The text states that it appears from the release of the video “the objective of ridiculing the author and, through this, targeting third parties, unjustifiably”.

The judge’s decision specifically targets a link with the recording published on the @danuzioneto profile on Instagram and sets a 24-hour deadline for removal, under penalty of a daily fine of R$5,000. The content was still on air this Monday afternoon (15).

The video of Brandão showing off designer clothes was shared on different social networks by supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who used the situation to criticize Benedito.

In 2023, the minister was the rapporteur of the action at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) that made Bolsonaro ineligible for eight years. The magistrate left the electoral court in November.

After the publication of the court decision that ordered the removal of the video, Bolsonaro supporters complained of censorship. The case is being carried out under judicial secrecy.

“Authorization for filming does not imply authorization for posting, which results in it being illicit, as it is unauthorized. The author is not a public person, which excludes the possibility of seeing a journalistic fact in the video, of public interest”, says an excerpt of the court decision.

The account has 513 thousand followers on Instagram and presents itself as a space for “current affairs and geopolitics”.

The video that went viral

The video that went viral last week was initially published on digital influencer Anthony Kruijver’s TikTok account. The recording took place in Amsterdam (Netherlands), as indicated in the post.

Kruijver has a series of videos in which he approaches people on the street to show what they are wearing. Participants display clothing, footwear and accessories with their respective brands.

It was no different with Brandão, who responded smiling to the influencer’s questions. The Brazilian presents himself in the video as a businessman who buys and sells watches and other luxury items.

In the video with Kruijver, the minister’s son shows the first sneaker model produced by Nike in partnership with the brand Louis Vuitton. Afterwards, the video shows the Brazilian showing the camera a Richard Mille RM 011 watch, which, according to the influencer, costs around 200 thousand euros – almost R$ 1.1 million at the current price.

Brandão also wears pants that would be from the Denim Tears brand and a Prada jacket. The pieces on display also include items such as a Dior backpack and a Cartier bracelet.

Throughout the recording, the minister’s son appears accompanied by a woman and a child, who also interact with Kruijver. On Monday afternoon, the video was no longer available on the influencer’s TikTok profile.
