To resume consideration of the matter, deputy Josenildo Abrantes had to collect the signatures of 256 parliamentarians. The initiative obliges the process to proceed in an urgent manner, that is, more quickly in the House of Laws.
“It is important to emphasize that the last official index regarding autism in Brazil is from 2019, when IBGE data estimated six million people in Brazil with the disorder. Based on this index, we would have that year, in Santana alone, seven thousand people with autism”said the deputy in the interview.
Josenildo also said that thousands of people with autism are still waiting for the diagnosis to start multidisciplinary follow-up. “The project addresses all of that. These centers will work from diagnosis to monitoring, and even monitoring the parents and guardians of these people”clarified.
The parliamentarian concluded by saying that he continues articulations, now so that still in the current month the bill will be reported back to the plenary of the Federal Chamber, so that it can be approved and then sanctioned by President Lula.
