The federal deputy Josenildo Abrantes (PDT-AP) requested this Thursday, 25th, to the Ministry of Health (MS), the review of the list of cities benefiting from the dengue vaccine and the inclusion of municipalities in Amapá to receive the vaccines.

The parliamentarian justifies that according to data from the MS itself, in 2023 the state had a 300% increase in cases of the disease compared to the previous year, and that in 2024 a life from Amapá was already taken by the most serious form of the disease, dengue. hemorrhagic.

“The numbers are alarming, and the effects of diseases caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito are even worse. The state government and city halls have been acting to prevent more cases. However, in addition to this work and the collaboration of the population, the people of Amapá also need access to the vaccine to expand this prevention, as the state is experiencing an emergency situation in relation to dengue cases”, justified Josenildo in a request sent to the minister Nízia Andrade.

Despite the efforts of public authorities, both at the state and municipal levels and even actions brought about by the State Public Ministry, the parliamentarian highlights the climatic characteristics of Amapá as a favorable factor for the proliferation of mosquito breeding sites.

“The combination of abundant rainfall and high temperatures during the Amazon winter period favors the accelerated development of Aedes aegypti, thus increasing the risk of disease transmission.”

In 2023, 352 cases of dengue were registered in Amapá, between January and April. In 2024, 382 suspected cases were recorded in Oiapoque alone; Of these, 70 were positive for dengue.

The Government of Amapá set up a Situation Room in Oiapoque and issued an alert with guidelines for the population across the state, in order to avoid breeding sites. In the south of the state, in the municipality of Laranjal do Jari, the MPE issued a letter to the city hall to intensify actions to combat the Aedes aegypt mosquito.
