José Dirceu is hospitalized with a bruise on his head – 02/23/2023 – Politics

Former minister José Dirceu (PT) was admitted this Thursday (23) to a hospital in Brasília.

According to the DF Star hospital, the petista does not have a discharge forecast. He was hospitalized with a condition of “subdural hematoma” and underwent a neurosurgical procedure for drainage.

The problem usually causes headaches by generating a buildup of blood that puts pressure on the brain.

“The DF Star hospital informs that Mr. José Dirceu de Oliveira e Silva was admitted to this unit with a subdural hematoma, undergoing a neurosurgical procedure for drainage. He is currently under observation in the Intensive Care Unit, breathing spontaneously. No forecast discharge”, says the note.

The most powerful minister in the first term of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), which began in 2003, Dirceu does not occupy any position in the current government, but exerts great influence on the PT and on Executive decisions.

Proof of this is that his son, federal deputy Zeca Dirceu (PT-PR), was chosen leader of the acronym’s bench in the Chamber.

At the PT’s anniversary event last week, he was applauded by the militancy and mentioned in speeches by the president of the party, Gleisi Hoffmann, and by Lula.

“Comrades and companions, I want to thank each one of you, women and men. Comrade José Dirceu, thank you because I know how much you were supportive of what I went through. I want to thank all the presidents of the party and here I am seeing the Gleisi and Rui Falcão, José Dirceu and I was president [do partido]”, said the Chief Executive.

Dirceu left the head of the Civil House in 2005 in the midst of the monthly allowance scandal. Later, he was sentenced by the STF (Federal Supreme Court) to ten years and ten months in prison for the crimes of conspiracy and active corruption for involvement in the case of transferring funds to deputies in exchange for votes in Congress.
