Janja suggests that Gleisi will be a senator and Moro reacts: lack of respect

Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) criticized, this Thursday (29), a post on social networks by the presidential first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, which suggests that federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR) will be “a future Senator”. The president’s wife published a photo on twitter with the parliamentarian after a meeting in Brasília.
“Lula’s wife’s speech was a lack of respect for the 1.9 million voters in Paraná who chose me for the Senate and also for the electoral justice system. But we have already realized – and so have the French – that respect for democracy and the law is not the Lula couple’s strong point”, Moro said reacting to the first lady’s publication after being warned by senator Hamilton Mourão (Republicanos-RS).
Moro is the target of two actions by the PL and the PT at the Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR) for abuse of economic power during last year’s pre-electoral campaign. At the time, the parliamentarian presented himself as a pre-candidate for the presidency of the Republic and would have benefited from the budget for the position to run for the Senate.
The lawsuits ask for the impeachment of the senator’s mandate for raising funds and illegal expenses, improper use of the media and seriousness of the facts exposed by both parties. In addition to Moro, the actions also target substitutes Luis Felipe Cunha and Ricardo Augusto Guerra.
In mid-June, judge Mario Helton Jorge joined the two representations, which started to run together in the state’s Electoral Justice. Moro countered and told the People’s Gazette that PT and PL were unable to find any evidence against him. “I remain calm, certain of the legality of my actions. While they attack me, I keep working for Paraná and Brazil”, he added.
If Moro has his mandate revoked, a supplementary election for the vacancy in the Senate will be held in Paraná.
