ADRIANA TOFFETTI/A7 PRESS/ESTADÃO CONTENT The Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15) — considered the country’s official inflation preview — fell by 0.07% for the month of July, reported this Tuesday (25) the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The index continued to decelerate compared to the previous month, when it increased by 0.04% for June. In July 2022, the IPCA-15 was 0.13%. With the results, the IPCA-15 accumulated 3.19% in the 12-month window. According to the IBGE, the item that brought the main negative impact to the indicator was the reduction in residential electricity prices (-3.45%), after the incorporation of the Itaipu Bonus, credited in July invoices. Four of the nine groups surveyed by the IBGE had a fall in the month, with the biggest change coming from the Housing group (-0.94%). In addition to the reduction in the electricity bill, the result is a consequence of the drop in gas cylinder prices (-2.10%). At the beginning of the month, Petrobras decided to reduce the price of cooking gas, LPG, by 3.9% for refineries, bringing the price of a 13kg cylinder to R$ 31.66 before taxes and profits for distributors and resellers. But there was also an important result for deflation in the month coming from the Food and beverages group (-0.40%), which was pulled down with benign results from the household food subgroup (-0.72%). The division is highly influenced by the price of basic foodstuffs, such as pinto beans (-10.20%), soy oil (-6.14%), long-life milk (-2.50%) and meats (-2.42%).
