Influenza vaccination and childhood multivaccination in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – With the goal of vaccinating more than 500 thousand people, the City of Manaus opens, this Monday (13), vaccination against influenza in the capital. The vaccine will be available until December 15th for 18 priority groups defined by the Ministry of Health. During the same period, the municipality will also promote multi-vaccination for children, aiming to update the vaccination records of children and adolescents aged 0 to 14 years.

The two immunization strategies are coordinated and executed by the Municipal Health Department (Semsa), which will keep 167 units open to serve the public.

This is the first year that influenza vaccination is carried out in the second half of the year in the North region. The change in the Ministry of Health’s annual calendar responds to an old demand from the states in this region, which experience a period of rain and humidity, with a greater risk of flu transmission, between the months of November and April, unlike other regions of the country. country.
