The federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia received information from the Amapá Health Surveillance Superintendency (SVS) about the increase in covid-19 cases in the state, especially among children.
There are at least five hundred confirmed cases, and people hospitalized, including children under five, facing the most aggressive form of the disease.
One of the causes of the increase is the lack of booster doses, which must be administered at least once a year. In some cases, patients hospitalized with Covid-19 did not receive any doses.
“There is an increase of more than five hundred cases. It is necessary to understand that the Amazon winter is conducive to this elevation. Vaccination is important, care is important”emphasizes Malafaia.
Malaria
Deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia allocated R$2 million, through a parliamentary amendment, to purchase inputs for actions to combat malaria. The federal government recognized, this Monday, the 8th, an emergency situation for seven municipalities in Amapá, due to the considerable increase in cases.
The municipalities in an emergency situation are the following: Oiapoque, Macapá, Porto Grande, Santana, Mazagão, Calçoene and Pedra Branca do Amapari. In 2022, reported dengue cases were 2,798; in 2023, 4,726, representing an increase of 89.8%.
“Of course, the state government has already joined its teams, but I allocated two million reais to purchase inputs to combat malaria. Anyone who isn’t from the Amazon doesn’t know what this sore is like. A child who has two or three malaria unfortunately has learning difficulties.”laments the deputy.
