The second batch of Income Tax 2023 refunds, which will be paid by the Federal Revenue this Friday (30), will have a correction of 1%, based on the Selic (basic interest rate of the economy), which is currently at 13. 75% a year.

In all, 5.1 million will receive the refund, totaling R$ 7.5 billion. The lot will be paid to priority taxpayers, including 130,000 elderly people over 80 years old, 978,397 elderly people between 60 and 79 years old, 70,589 taxpayers with a physical or mental disability or serious illness, 468,889 taxpayers whose teaching is their main source of income and 3, 5 million taxpayers used the pre-filled statement or opted to receive the Pix refund.

In the first batch, paid on May 31, 4.13 million taxpayers received a total of R$ 7.5 billion, until then the highest amount ever paid by the Revenue in history. The batch also had only priority contributors.

Income Tax still has, in all, five batches of refunds between May and September, with payment being made on the last working day of each month.

Who will receive this lot?

Enter the second batch taxpayers with priority guaranteed by law or who are considered a priority because they pre-filled or chose to receive the refund by Pix.

Taxpayers are entitled to priority:

  1. Over 80 years old
  2. Between 60 and 79 years old
  3. With a physical or mental disability or serious illness
  4. Whose main source of income is teaching
  5. Who entered the IR by pre-pressed statement or chose to receive by Pix

If the taxpayer fits these conditions, but does not enter the second batch, he must consult the statement extract to verify whether pending issues have been identified. If so, it will be necessary to correct them and send a rectifying statement.

How to make the query?

The query is made online, on the Federal Revenue website. The taxpayer needs to inform the CPF number, date of birth and the data requested on the screen. For this simpler query, the system does not inform the amount of the refund, but for those who enter the second batch, it will appear that the payment will be made on the 30th at the bank indicated by the taxpayer when delivering the declaration.

The Revenue informs that it provides the application for tablet and cell phone in which it is possible to directly consult the release of the refund, in addition to the registration status of an enrollment in the CPF, for example.

There is also the option of checking the status of the declaration through the e-CAC Portal, which is the Tax Service’s Virtual Service Center. To do this, you must have a gov.br password of silver or gold level. See what to do:

  1. Access the e-CAC Portal and go to “Enter with gov.br”
  2. On the next page, enter the CPF and go to “Continue”
  3. Then enter the password and go to “Login”
  4. In “Featured Services”, go to “My Income Tax (Dirpf Statement)”

What can you see in the e-CAC?

In the extract, the taxpayer can consult:

  • The status of the declaration, including whether there are pending processing issues, which indicates a fine mesh
  • If the refund has already been forwarded for payment, it will be possible to see the updated amount, the credit date and the banking institution where the refund will be credited
  • If the taxpayer has debts, it is possible to consult them and authorize compensation ex officio using the refund balance
  • If the tax to be refunded was used for ex-officio compensation, it is possible to consult the statement of the compensation carried out

How is the payment of the IR refund made?

Payment of amounts is made to the bank account informed in the income tax return, directly or by indication of a PIX key.

If, for some reason, the credit is not carried out, the amounts will be available for redemption for up to one year at Banco do Brasil. In this case, the citizen can reschedule the credit through the BB Portal, at the address or by calling the BB relationship center through the telephones 4004-0001 (capital cities), 0800-7290001 (other locations) and 0800-7290088 (special exclusive telephone number for hearing impaired).

If the taxpayer does not redeem the amount of his refund within one year, he must request the amounts on the e-CAC Portal, “Declarations and Demonstrations”. Then click on “My Income Tax” and then on “Request unredeemed refund in the banking network”.
