According to Rui Costa, the security structure will be, from July, under the command of the GSI, but will have a hybrid format – with the participation of civilians, police and military. The minister told the blog that Lula will define, during this Wednesday’s meeting, the composition and way in which each corporation will contribute to the area. The new format of presidential security should allow PT members to choose those responsible for their security on trips and official commitments. In addition to Lula, the area is also responsible for the security of the vice president, Geraldo Alckmin, the first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, and family members. Historically, presidential security was the responsibility of the military, represented by the GSI. Since the beginning of the year, however, it has been in charge of an extraordinary secretary linked to Lula’s personal office. Headed by PF delegate Aleksander Oliveira, the body will only operate until the next 30th. Military and federal police articulated, in recent weeks, an exit that would favor one of the sides. The National Association of Federal Police Delegates (ADPF) even issued a position this Tuesday (27) in which it defends the maintenance of the corporation at the head of the PT’s security. To cool down the conflict, ministers Rui Costa, Flávio Dino and general Amaro met this Tuesday. At the meeting, they reached an early consensus on the blog by Costa. Although the format does not completely meet the PF’s wishes, the head of the Civil House stated that there was no discomfort at the meeting. Flávio Dino declared that he recognized the work of the GSI, but argued for the continuity of the Federal Police in the area. “The Federal Police have been doing a great job in this work. I respect the GSI a lot, but I think the PF should continue. The decision will obviously be made by the President of the Republic, as it is a matter that is directly related to him and his family”, he said. In an interview with the “Poder360” portal, Amaro assessed that an eventual departure of the PF from the task “does not bring any problem”.
