In the sights of the centrão, Freixo says that the Presidency guaranteed that he will stay at Embratur – 07/12/2023 – Panel

President of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo interrupted a meeting with Secretaries of Tourism in the Northeast this Wednesday (12) to answer a phone call from the Presidency of the Republic. Upon returning to the enclosure, he said to those present: “the news is good, it is that I am staying at Embratur”.

Freixo’s position is one of the targets of the centrão in its search for space in the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The state-owned company is linked to the Ministry of Tourism, which will be headed by Deputy Celso Sabino (União Brasil-PA), replacing Deputy Daniela do Waguinho (União Brasil-RJ), who asked to leave the party.

In place of Embratur, Lula endorsed the negotiation of other state-owned companies, as shown by Sheet. In the case of Caixa, for example, the president of the institution, Rita Serrano, has been the target of criticism by the government and by the PT itself, and therefore allies of the representative assess that it should be easier to give up command of the bank.
