Brasilia DF) – During the inauguration ceremony of the 513 federal deputies, this Wednesday morning (1), parliamentarians elected by the Liberal Party (PL) protested in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Politicians of Jair Bolsonaro’s acronym pasted posters on their backs and ribbons on their mouths.
Among them are federal deputies Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), Capitão Alden (PL-BA), Amália Barros (PL-MT), Hélio Lopes (PL-RJ) and Rodolfo Nogueira (PL -MS).
They showed cards with the words: “Fora Lula” and “Fora Thief”.
The ceremony precedes the elections for the composition of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, which will also define who will preside over the next two years.
Of the 513 deputies sworn in, 280 were re-elected and another 233 will be in the Chamber for the first time, or return to the House for a new term. The elected parliamentarians had been graduated in a ceremony that took place in December.
In a delicate moment during the inauguration, Benedito de Lira, father of Arthur Lira and mayor of Barra de São Miguel (AL), fainted. He was taken out in the plenary by civilian firefighters to receive proper treatment. Because of this, the session was temporarily suspended.
Timeline
After the inauguration ceremony, the elected deputies will have until 1:00 pm to finalize the formation of parliamentary blocks. The alliances will be represented by deputies from two or more different political parties and who will act in the Legislative House as a single bench, having a common leader.
Subsequently, a meeting of leaders of the parliamentary blocks and other groups will be convened to choose the positions of the Board of Directors of the Chamber.
Then, the deadline for registering candidacies for the Board and for the Presidency ends and, consequently, there is the drawing of candidates in the electronic ballot box, initiating the election for the command of the Chamber.
