“I’m in the ICU, I haven’t died yet”, said former president Jair Bolsonaro this Monday (3) in an interview with Young pan when asked who his successor would be after the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) made him ineligible for eight years last Friday (30).
In his response, Bolsonaro avoided declaring who will have his support in the next presidential elections and said that “it is not fair that someone already wants to share my estate”. Despite this, the former president cited names as positive leaders, such as the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), highlighting him as leader of the largest Brazilian state, and Romeu Zema (Novo), who governs Minas Gerais.
He said, however, that he still does not have a name in Brazil “to do what I did”. “Other good names have appeared, but they still don’t have that stamp to speak to all of Brazil: ‘we are together for 2026’”, she declared.
In the interview, Bolsonaro also said that he believes he will not be arrested, criticized the acts of vandalism to the buildings of the Three Powers on January 8 and declared that the Brazilian right is united. Regarding the depredations, he rejected the narrative that the acts represented an attempted coup.
